Freedom of Information Act 2000 – Request for Information

We are pleased to respond to your request for information and our response is set out below:

Request/ Response

1. What are the name(s) of the organisation(s) which are contracted by the CCG to deliver care in Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs)?

NHS Sheffield CCG does not commission an UTC. The CCG currently commissions Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHSFT to deliver a range of urgent care services including the functions of an UTC. Sheffield CCG undertook a public consultation between 2017 and 2018.  Our stakeholders and public’s response was very clear in that the proposals for new models of urgent care in Sheffield including an Urgent Treatment Centre were not agreed. The CCG then undertook a review of urgent care services in Sheffield in 2018/2019 with stakeholders and the public. It was agreed by all that the quality of urgent care services was good, but there needed to be improvements in pathways, knowledge and education, and address concerns about culture and behaviours and address the lack of and inefficient use of resources. This is what Sheffield is now focussing on as an Accountable Care Organisation.

2. When is each of the existing UTC contracts due to renew? See above answer.

3. Does the CCG have plans to transition any existing Minor Injuries Units (MIUs) into UTCs? If so, which MIUs? Will there be a procurement process to identify providers and when is this planned to happen?

The Minor Injuries Unit in Sheffield is already delivered by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

4. What are the name(s) of the organisation(s) which are contracted by the CCG to deliver GP Out of Hours (OOH) services?
