A large proportion of Termination of Pregnancy activity is acute care funded via national tariff. Patients can choose which acute provider to attend for their procedure. Contracts are negotiated with NHS acute trusts annually covering the financial year. Current contracts are therefore dated 1st April 2019-31st March 2020.
The majority of NHS Sheffield patients choose to go to Sheffield Teaching Hospital, spend in 2018/19 on TOP procedures was £959,046 (2087 procedures)
A small number of patients chose to attend other local trusts at Rotherham, Barnsley and Chesterfield.
