3. Universities

(i) The universities the Clinical Commissioning Group has met with in 2017, 2018, and 2019,

This is outside the scope of the expected current MHST national offer.

However, as part of other ongoing work, Sheffield CCG has had Senior Commissioning Team Representation at the Student Health and Wellbeing Board meetings, which take place with both Sheffield University and Sheffield Hallam University,  up to a maximum of  4 times per year each year since 2017.

There have been additional ad hoc meetings with the 2 university GP practices throughout the above time periods, looking at partnership working with the main mental health NHS provider in Sheffield.

In addition, we are working with the University GP practices to explore new models of care, as part of our early implementer status for the development of a primary care mental health service.

(ii) The number of meetings the Clinical Commissioning Group has had with universities in 2017, 2018 and 2019,

We do not routinely hold this information. However, as previously stated Sheffield CCG has had Senior Commissioning Team Representation at the Student Health and Wellbeing Board meetings, which take place with both Sheffield University and Sheffield Hallam University,  up to a maximum of  4 times per year each year since 2017.

(iii) How many of the meetings between the Clinical Commissioning Group and the universities were used to discuss establishing and/or developing a Mental Health Support Team,

This is outside the scope of the expected current MHST national offer; therefore none of the meetings have been on this topic.

(iv) How many of the meetings between the Clinical Commissioning Group and the universities were used to discuss working in partnership to address the needs of students, delivering interventions in or close to universities for those with mild to moderate mental health issues and/or to help students with more severe needs to access the right support, working with universities to provide a link to specialist NHS services.

As a separate piece of work not related to the development of CYP Mental Health Support Team, as part of our implementation of a new approach to primary and community mental health service development, members of the CCG Mental Health Commissioning Team have met with the NHS Health Services for both the universities in Sheffield; the Student Welfare officer for the University of Sheffield; and we are due to meet in February 2020 with the Student Support Counselling services of both universities  to identify unmet needs and to explore opportunities to develop a joint approach to student support.  We have and will continue to send Senior Team Representation to the Student Health and Wellbeing Board meetings throughout this year, as in previous years.

All meetings with Sheffield University and Sheffield Hallam University have covered the topics referred to in question iv) above.
